HE SCFA Secretary-general Receives Ice Skiing World Champion And The Child Ghanim

 
 



HE Mr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, SCFA Secretary-General received in his office on Monday morning 14th January 2008 , Mr. Michael Taylor, ice skiing world champion for four successive times and the child Ghanim, and the reception was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Sayyed, Department of Special Needs Persons Managing Director and Mrs. Eiman Al-Obedli, child Ghanim's mother

At the beginning, HE Secretary-General welcomed his guests, appreciating their great efforts in defying disability and achieving success in life's different fields, confirming the role of the family in making disabled members active persons in the community, indicating that Qatar has scientific, literary and athletic talents who could vanquish disability with God's help and due to the State's and the family's care of this group. HE likewise confirmed that ever since its establishment, SCFA has given its undivided attention to persons with special needs through its programs, policies and strategies and it has had a major role in legislating laws and signing conventions related to this group, besides its adoption a number of initiatives and establishing centers specialized in the area of education and rehabilitating this significant group of the community

On his part, Mr. Michael Taylor acclaimed the achievements fulfilled by the State of Qatar in the area of special needs persons care, and he talked about his experience in challenging mobility disability and transforming it into a power by which he won different athletic medals, confirming that man's will-power and the others' support to him are two important elements to achieve success. Ghanim's mother talked about her experience with her son who was born with a difficult disability, and her endeavor to include her son with other children by encouraging him and standing on his side, rehabilitate him to accept his disability and co-exist with it and achieve success at school

At the end of the meeting, HE Secretary-General thanked his two guests, wishing them prosperity and more success
