Supreme Council For Family Affairs Casts Form Of Nomination For State Prize For Child's Literature

 
 

 

Supreme Council for Family Affairs announced casting a nomination application form for the State's Prize for Child's Literature, and already literary works competing for the Prize have been received on SCFA's website childlit-qa@scfa.gov.qa which contains the full information about the Prize, its categories cast for this year, as well as a copy of the nomination form containing conditions of partaking

The idea of the State's Prize for Child' Literature emerged to enrich the oeuvre of child's literature in the light of the impoverishment of the cultural sphere in the Arab world and scarcity of intellectual products concerned with childhood. The States, therefore, launched this Prize according to the Emiri Decree No 18 of the year 2005, in contribution to promote child's culture and build a generation aware of its Arabic and Islamic identity and its cultural heritage and societal values

The Prize includes eight categories which are: the short story, novel, poetry, acting, theater, children's songs, and illustrated books for children, in addition to innovated children's games, including those using electronic devices

The Prize aims at encouraging Qatari and Arab writers and creative people to produce highly qualified works in the spheres of child's literature and arts, deepening human values, developing life's experience among Arab children and enriching the Arab library in this field, as well as creating literary consciousness in the child

The Prize's value is QR 200,000 (two hundred thousand Qatari Riyals) for each of the categories announced, and in case there is more than one winner in the same category, the sum will be divided equally between the winners. Besides, the winners are to be awarded with a gold medal and its patent, as well as a certificate of appreciation

The work submitted to win the Prize should be in Arabic and should be original and has not previously won any local, Arab or international prize, and should be inventive and consistent with Arabic and Islamic values in the Arab communities, and has not previously been submitted as a dissertation or a thesis to obtain an academic degree

The participant in the Prize should be among the Qatari and Arab writers and authors concerned with child's literature and arts, and he/she should address his/her application to the Committee, specifying in the application one the categories announced for winning the Prize, and enclose six copies of the work submitted, in addition to his/her CV containing his/her literary, artistic or cultural contributions if any

This Prize falls within the umbrella of SCFA as it is the supreme authority that cares for the family's entire segments, and because the child comes at the top of its priorities, SCFA has always been keen on giving the child his rights and promote his culture and awareness of the different issues, especially literary and intellectual ones. Ever since its establishment,, SCFA has always been keen on preparing programs, studies, strategies that care for the child
