HE Mr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, Secretary-General of Supreme Council for
Family Affairs lauded the efforts exerted by the Youth General Authority and the
Cultural and Social Center for the Deaf for conducting a rehabilitative training
course for parents and hearing aids trainers with the aim of caring for special
needs persons who suffer from the problem of hard of hearing. The problem has
been solved by the use of a hearing aid. HE mentioned that by instructions of
Her Highness, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missned, SCFA President, special
needs persons have received the greatest care through the establishment of
specialized institutions. Al-Shaffallah Center is considered among the first
centers established by SCFA to offer different rehabilitative and educational
services to our children, special needs persons. Besides, SCFA undertakes
preparing programs, establishing strategies and drafting recommendations which
aim at including this group in the community and give it its rights fully being
an active element in the society.
HE added by stating that we are living in an era when technology in all of its
kinds has developed hugely and it has become easy for everybody to get access to
information by various means. A number of special needs persons have proved to
do very well in many different educational areas and scored the highest academic
results, thanks to the support of families and social and educational
institutions to them, and by keeping abreast of scientific development which
beat all types of disabilities. Our children and brothers who use hearing aids
are considered the best of the disabled groups in their abilities to receive
training and rehabilitation and overcome their simple hearing impairment and be
successful in their education once they were provided with the proper
environment consisting of family, school and the community. HE pointed out that
the outcomes of the course are very important, especially the recommendation
related to preparing qualified national cadres to diagnose and rehabilitate the
hard of hearing through education, programs and workshops, and follow-up of
those included in schools to help them overcome educational and rehabilitative
difficulties. HE confirmed the role of the family in helping its members to cope
with their disabilities and overcome them and then treat them in a special way
that opens before them the different ways of education and rehabilitation and he
wished that such a rehabilitative course to be repeated to contribute largely to
raise awareness of the community and families in the sphere of special needs
persons care.
This occurred during the concluding ceremony of the First Rehabilitative
Training Course for Parents and Hard of Hearing Professionals organized by the
Social and Cultural Qatari Center for the Deaf and the Youth General Authority
for ten days with the aim of training these children to develop their language
and hearing skills to enter the world of hearing normally. This took place in a
ceremony held in the Intercontinental Hotel, and was attended by a large number
of professionals and people concerned with special needs and a number of the
Board of Directors members of the Center, as well as a number of parents of
children who use hearing aids
