Recommending Its Adoption At End Of Its Events
“Second Conference For Prevention Against Accidents, The Conference Specializes In The Family Role In Traffic Safety”
 

 
 



On Tuesday, April 29th 2008, came to conclusion the events of the First Gulf Youth Conference for Prevention Against Road Accidents, organized by the Ministry of the Interior in collaboration with Supreme Council for Famuily Affairs at the Four Seasons Hotel during the period April 27th-29th and in which a number of traffic directors in Gulf States participated in addition to youth delegations from Iraq and Yemen. The concluding ceremony was attended by HE Mr Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, SCFA secretary-General, HE Staff Marshal Saad bin Jassim Al-Khulaifi, Public Security Director-General, Colonel Mohammed Saad Al-Khazrajji, Traffic and Patrol Director, besides a number of youths and participants in the Conference

The student Badr Al-Rashid from Saudi Arabia delivered an address on behalf of participating youths who expressed their gratefulness and appreciaion in their final statement to HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missned, HH the Emir's Consort, SCFA President for her continual efforts, not only on SCFA level, but on the level of the world at large. Youths, likewise, expressed their appreciation to Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member and to the organizers of the Conference

In their final statement, the youths mentioned that the Conference's sessions were characterized by mutual understanding among the participants in their endeavor to find common grounds and uniform visions about the nature of traffic awareneness in the Gulf communities

On behalf of HE Staff Marshal Saad bin Jassim Al-Khulaifi, Public Security Director-General, Colonel Mohammed Saad Al-Khazrajji, Traffic and Patrol Director announced the recommendations that the Conference came out with, and which recommendations that included: the call for activating youths role in traffic culture through positive participation to serve all community members by means of using the different modern tools such as the internet and documents for the sake of awareness-raising and disseminating constructive notions and contributing to adopting traffic culture, pass laws and legislations that would lead to establishing a voluntary private association specialized in working in the area of traffic safety.

Moreover, participants proposed that the Second Conference on Prevention Against Road Accidents should specialize in the family role in traffic safety

Likewise, participants recommended the importance of involving youths in establishing visions and envisionings concerning addressing the problem of traffic accidents together with proposing the appropriate solutions and implementing them, and the necessity of prioritizing the the development of medical services offered to traffic accidents casualties in Gulf Cooperation Council States in order to reach standards internationally adopted

In their recommendations, participant also called for exerting extra efforts to enrich and develop school curricula on bases and outlooks of traffic awareness to ensure the promoting of traffic culture

Likewise, recommendations included that such conferences should be held annually on the GCC level with the participation of youths from both genders and from all segments, besides the call to conduct academic and engineering studies on traffic safety of roads, especially in construction sites and dangerous areas in order to raise the level of safety

Participants proposed in their recommendations the adoption of a joint strategy that could be assessed among the member states to minimize road accidents and to implement the programs that aim at reaching a safe traffic environment in which youths and the rest of the community members could resort to

Besides, participants were keen in their recommendations on car racing arenas as they called on GCC States to conduct a study on the establishment of racing arenas where youths could display their talents in car driving, providing they are monitored by traffic directorates and car sprts unions, and that they should have all international safety and security procedures so that youths could have the opportunity to release their adamant potential and to be motivated to drive safely

At the conclusion of their recommendations, participants urged the concerned bodies in the GCC States to hold joint training courses to students to teach them avoiding aggressive driving

The Conference included a film show produced by Qatar University students. The film was about reckless driving and it showed samples of road accidents. In the end, HE Mr Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, SCFA Secretary-General and HE Staff Marshal Saad bin Jassim Al-Khulaifi, Public Security Director-General honored the Gulf youths participating in the Conference, and they were presented with prizes. Likewise, youths participating in literary works were also honored in the areas of essay-writing and the short story

The Emirates delegation gave two souvenirs in appreciation to HE Mr Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, SCFA Secretay-General and to Ms Jawaher Abul-Fain, Conference Coordinator, in appreciation of their roles in organizing this Conference
