Permanent Elections Committee, In Collaboration With The British Embassy, Conducts A Programme On Leadership And Training Skills

 
 



Meeting the objectives of SCFA's Permanent Elections Committee chaired by HE Sheikha Aiysha bint Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Thani, embodied in activating the Qatari society's political involvement and spreading the culture of democracy, PEC, in collaboration with British Embassy-Doha, organized during the period December 2nd-6th at the Millennium Hotel a training program titled Leadership and Training Skills which included 16 women participants from different bodies that included volunteers from PEC, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Legal Studies Centre, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Municipal and Agricultural Affairs, Emiri Diwan, SCFA, Virginia Commonwealth University and Municipal Council. The Program was executed by Ms Mandana Hendeisi, Social Development Advisor at British Embassy. Dr Khalid bin Jabor Al-Thani, PEC Vice-Chair opened the Program with an address in which he thanked the participants in the Program and the British Embassy-Doha for its cooperating with PEC, confirming that the Program's success meets the PEC's objectives, indicating that such a program can be useful to the participants in their daily life

On his part, HE Mr. Eric Matti, General Consul and Diplomatic Mission Deputy at British Embassy-Doha thanked PEC for its cooperating with British Embassy, indicating the trainer's efficiency and pointing out that Qatari woman has the skills, aspiration and readiness to play leading roles in the different areas, confirming that he was certain that the Qatari society will witness in the future the birth of leaders of both sexes who will be able to train the others

Ms Mandana Hendeisi, on her part, confirmed that the Course's subject-matter had been prepared exclusivity to the Qatari women who are interested in the leadership concept and who will transmit to their Qatari women likes their know-how and interest in matters related to leadership, indicating the importance of such courses in creating the successful leader

It suffuses to say that the Course's timetable was divided into two phases: phase one handled leadership skills, and phase two handled training skills. The Course included many a concept among which were the introduction to the concept of the good leader and leadership strategy and objectives, and the use of lobbying groups and networks and training for negotiation and persuasion skills, how to achieve goals and deliver them to the recipient, how to formulate a team, besides introduction to dispute types and mechanisms needed to settle disputes

The trainer Ms Hendeisi, lilkewise, confirmed the necessity of commitment to what is known the eight "my being" rules which were: my being ready, positive, honest, succinct, transparent, dynamic, relaxed, sure and responsible. She, furthermore, confirmed the role of media in helping the leader to achieve success and gain a positive image

The Course included a number of activities, the most important of which were dividing the participants into work teams and assigning them to solve certain tests, and accomplishing some tasks which added an atmosphere of a positive interaction with the trainer.
