Social and economical circumstances that surround the family, affect its daily living and influences most of the decisions it takes. Household debt is one of these phenomenon spread among Qatari families where many of them finance their expenditure , whether it is for consumption purposes or for investment proposes, through bank loans and other credit sources. This is believed to constitutes a burden on some families and causes a lot of financial and social problems, as well as affects their quality of living. Therefore, it was necessary to conduct a field study to identify the size of this phenomenon and the factors affecting the decision taken by Qatari families and individuals' to acquire a loan and get in debt. In addition, the study aims to identifying debt or loan distribution among Qatari families, the characteristics of these loans in terms of size, number, sources and purposes. Finally, the study tries to shed a light on the impact of household debt on the welfare of these families.
